Elements and principles of design

Line-
The linear marks made by a pen or the edge where two shapes meet
Shape
The area of geometric or organic form
Direction
Gives the feeling of balance and movement
Size
The relationship of the area occupied by one shape to that of another
Texture
The surface quality of a shape
Color
The hue created with pigments
Value
The lightness or darkness of a color

Balance
The relationship of an object has to another object
Gradation
The side and direction produced by linear perspective
Repetition

An object being repeated
Contrast
The juxtaposition of opposing elements
Harmony
The visually satisfying effect of combining similar, related elements.
Dominance
Gives the artwork interest, counteracting confusing and monotony 
Unity
Relating the design elements to the idea being expressed
